Former lawmaker Sohn visited the funeral hall at Samsung Medical Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where Chairman Lee's wake was held that afternoon and said, "He always looked at the world and the future, constantly innovated, valued people in the process, and emphasized technology development, showing us the right path to follow.
He added, "I hope Samsung will continue to work even harder to make South Korea a top world-class country," and "I wish our country would play a role in supporting advanced technology development and industrial development that South Korea has worked on."
Regarding his connection with Chairman Lee, former lawmaker Sohn said, "When I was governor of Gyeonggi Province, Samsung was the largest company in Gyeonggi, and I actively supported it through Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Electronics.
