Geumcheon-gu Operates Dream Start Children's Online Science Class
Providing Experiential Opportunities for Dream Start Children Concerned About Learning Gaps... Conducting Experiments and Practice in Robotics, Coding, and Science, Core Technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will operate the 'Ontact Curiosity Science Class' for 8 weeks starting from the 26th to enhance the creativity of Dream Start students who have experienced learning gaps and reduced opportunities for experiential activities due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This program was planned to improve creativity and problem-solving skills through various experiences such as robot assembly, coding map creation, and science experiments, and to induce understanding and interest in the 4th Industrial Revolution among Dream Start children.
The science experience program in three fields?'robotics, coding, and science'?which attracted great interest from children, will be conducted for 34 Dream Start elementary school students interested in the field of science.
Learning will be conducted in small groups divided into lower and upper grades, considering the learning levels.
Science experiment kits will be delivered to each home, and interactive online practice will be conducted once a week using the video conferencing program (ZOOM).
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "We expect that children will understand the principles of science by directly experimenting with various tools, which will help improve cognitive ability, thinking skills, and motivation for learning," and added, "We hope this program will be the first step for children to grow into key talents who will lead the 4th Industrial Revolution."
