In particular, she received a lecture fee of 136,000 pounds (about 200 million KRW) for participating in the Korea Knowledge Forum last month. Former Prime Minister May ranked second among major British politicians in terms of the highest lecture fees received.
According to the British daily The Times on the 24th (local time), after stepping down from the prime ministership and returning as a Member of Parliament (MP), May was invited to give various lectures and speeches across three continents.
Notably, she earned 115,000 pounds (about 170 million KRW) for a speech at the Global Women’s Forum held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in February, and a similar amount in March for a lecture on international relations to students at Brown University.
Additionally, last month she participated in the Korea Knowledge Forum and received 136,000 pounds (approximately 200 million KRW). This ranks her second among major British politicians for the highest income from a single lecture or speech.
During her 30-hour stay in Korea, former Prime Minister May met with President Moon Jae-in, praised Korea’s COVID-19 response, and expressed condolences for British soldiers who lost their lives during the Korean War.
Meanwhile, like former Prime Ministers Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, and David Cameron, May signed an exclusive contract with the Washington Speakers Bureau.
The total income May earned from lectures and speeches after her resignation amounts to 1.5 million pounds (about 2.2 billion KRW), with an average of 110,000 pounds (approximately 160 million KRW) per engagement.
