Shinsegae Inter to Sell Artworks at SI Village
Choi Ulga Original Work 'Red Series' Highest Price 60 Million Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Shinsegae International is the first in the fashion and beauty industry to start selling original artworks on its own online mall.
Shinsegae International announced that, in collaboration with Print Bakery, an art popularization brand launched by Seoul Auction, it will sell works by famous domestic and international artists such as Jeff Koons, David Gerstein, Andy Warhol, and Choi Young-wook on its own mall SI Village starting from the 26th of this month.
A total of 78 artworks will be showcased, including original pieces created directly by the artists and limited edition works reviewed by the artists or their families.
Customers can purchase Jeff Koons' Balloon Animals, original paintings and art accessories by David Gerstein, original paintings by Kim Chang-yeol, who gained worldwide fame for his water drop paintings, and original paintings of moon jars by Choi Young-wook. The prices of the artworks range from 100,000 KRW to 60 million KRW.
The highest-priced artwork is "Red Series" by Korea's representative artist Choi Ul-ga, priced at 60 million KRW. This piece is the latest work following the White Series and Black Series.
Shinsegae International promoted the sale of artworks anticipating that people who enjoy luxury fashion would also have a high interest in art. SI Village is an online mall aiming to be a luxury online platform, selling over 30 overseas high-end fashion and beauty brands guaranteed to be 100% authentic.
Recently, the company has expanded its sales area by adding high-end audio brands such as Bang & Olufsen and Geneva, as well as luxury pet product brands like Million, to its online select shop called Select449 within its own mall.

To commemorate the sale of artworks, Shinsegae International will offer 10% of the payment amount as e-points to customers who purchase artworks from the 26th to the 30th of this month. The e-points can be used to purchase products on SI Village.
