'Favoring Delivery Convenience and Receiving Hundred-Million Bribe' LG Life Sciences Executive Receives Suspended Sentence in Second Trial
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] An executive of LG Life Sciences who received bribes from a pharmaceutical wholesaler in exchange for facilitating the delivery process was sentenced to a suspended prison term in the appellate court as well.
The Seoul Central District Court Criminal Appeals Division 5-2 (Presiding Judge Seokdong Yoo) on the 21st sentenced the company executive, Mr. An, who was indicted on charges of breach of trust and bribery, to 1 year and 4 months in prison with a 3-year suspension, the same as the original trial. Additionally, a fine of 260 million KRW was ordered.

Mr. An was arrested and prosecuted on charges of receiving bribes worth around 200 million KRW from the representative of a vaccine wholesaler and others in exchange for facilitating the issuance of supply commitment letters and setting supply prices. In the first trial, all charges against Mr. An were acknowledged as guilty, but considering that the victim company did not wish for punishment, a suspended sentence was handed down.
