Indian Army Arrests One Chinese Soldier Near Border... "Lost Soldier Will Be Sent Back"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] The Indian military has arrested one Chinese soldier who lost his way near the border and crossed over, and has announced that the soldier will soon be returned to China. Tensions have escalated as both countries have engaged in armed clashes near the border in May and June and have deployed various strategic weapons forward.
According to ANI news agency and other local Indian media on the 19th, the Indian military stated that one Chinese soldier lost his way and crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Ladakh region near the China border, and was arrested. They also announced plans to hand over the soldier to China soon. According to the Indian military, the soldier's name is Wang Yalong, and his rank is Corporal. The Indian military emphasized that they provided him with medical support, oxygen, food, and clothing.
While the Indian military did not disclose details about how the soldier crossed the border or the circumstances of his arrest, an Indian military official told ANI that the soldier did not cross the border with any specific purpose and seemed to have crossed by accident. After armed clashes in May and June this year, both Indian and Chinese troops have been deployed forward, placing both sides in a highly tense situation.
