[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that 50 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) occurred, increasing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 4,851 as of midnight on the 18th.
Among the new confirmed cases, 48 were locally transmitted and 2 were imported. Of these, 28 additional cases were confirmed at a rehabilitation hospital in Gwangju City where a cluster infection occurred, accounting for the largest proportion.
At this hospital, after the first patient (a caregiver residing in Seoul, Gwangju City patient number 84) was identified on the 16th, the total number of related confirmed cases increased to 48 (45 within the province) as of midnight on the 18th.
