Mask Required and Fever Screening... Grade 7 Civil Service Exam Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunbyeol Kim] The 2020 Local Government Employee Grade 7 Open Competitive Recruitment Examination was held on the 17th at 10 a.m. across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. Given concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the exam was conducted with thorough quarantine and hygiene management.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, 39,397 candidates applied for 565 positions in this Grade 7 open and career competitive exam. The average competition ratio was 69.73 to 1. The technical high school graduate (or prospective graduate) Grade 9 career competitive recruitment exam for specialized and Meister high schools, as well as the research and guidance staff open and career competitive recruitment exams, were also held simultaneously.
The exam took place at 133 test centers nationwide, with 359 exam rooms. The capacity of each exam room was limited to 20 people or fewer. Candidates were required to wear masks at all times and had to disinfect their hands with sanitizer provided at the exam entrance before undergoing a temperature check to enter the exam site.
If a candidate’s temperature was 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher, or if they showed respiratory symptoms such as coughing during the temperature check, they were required to undergo a retest. Candidates with a fever or severe cough were seated separately in designated auxiliary exam rooms at each test center. Those identified as high-risk candidates with suspected infection signs after retesting were immediately transferred to a public health center.
Candidates had to wear masks inside the exam rooms and maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters while waiting to use restrooms. Confirmed COVID-19 patients were not allowed to take the exam.
