Assemblyman Yoon Young-deok: "Transparent Salary System Needed for Private Kindergarten Staff"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Allegations have been raised that the salary system of some private kindergartens located in Gyeonggi-do is at an abnormal level.
Yoon Youngdeok, a member of the National Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Gwangju Dongnam-gap), stated on the 16th, "It is necessary to conduct a full survey of kindergarten staff salaries to see if there are any excessively high salaries beyond common sense."
According to the labor income tax details in the audit result notification conducted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, last year, at a kindergarten in Gyeonggi-do, the principal's annual salary was confirmed to be 1.78 billion KRW, teachers' annual salary was 1.6 billion KRW, and administrative staff's annual salary was 600 million KRW.
The founder of the kindergarten, who is also a teacher, is the principal's daughter, and the administrative staff is the principal's nephew's wife.
Another kindergarten is similarly suspicious. The principal's annual salary is 48 million KRW, but the administrative staff's annual salary reaches 1.8 billion KRW.
In the national audit targeting the education offices of Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi areas, Assemblyman Yoon told Lee Jaejung, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, "Looking at the high salary status of private kindergartens in Gyeonggi-do, it is difficult for the public to accept it logically," adding, "If ultra-high salaries are taken, the damage falls entirely on the children and parents."
He continued, "To increase the accounting transparency of private kindergartens, it is necessary to make the salaries of private kindergarten staff transparent."
