Jeonnam Fire Department Conducted Over 54,000 On-Site Activities in Q3 This Year
1,577 People Rescued... Average Daily Fires 19 Cases, Rescues 165 People, etc.
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters conducted more than 54,000 field activities in the third quarter of this year alone.
According to Jeonnam Fire on the 15th, a total of 174,836 reports were received during the third quarter (July to September) of this year, and field activities were carried out for 54,394 cases.
By category, there were 1,754 fires, 15,243 rescues, and 37,397 emergency medical services.
The daily average was 19 fires, 165 rescues, and 406 emergency medical services.
Among the 1,754 fire dispatches, 445 actual fires occurred. As a result, there were 55 casualties including 4 deaths and 51 injuries, and property damage amounted to 3.3 billion KRW.
Compared to the same period last year, casualties increased by 39 and property damage increased by 170 million KRW. Jeonnam Fire analyzes that the hospital fire in the Goheung area that occurred in July had a significant impact.
By cause of fire, negligence was the most frequent with 161 cases, accounting for 36.2%, followed by electrical causes with 155 cases (34.8%), mechanical causes with 67 cases (15.1%), and other fires with 62 cases (13.9%).
During this period, 15,243 rescue dispatches were carried out, saving 1,557 lives. Compared to last year, dispatches increased by 549 and lives saved increased by 447.
Among all rescue dispatches, 10,650 were for daily safety rescues such as natural disasters, and 4,593 were general rescues including traffic accidents and elevator accidents.
Emergency medical service dispatches totaled 37,397, with 29,620 patients receiving emergency treatment and being transported to hospitals.
In particular, due to citizens' reduced outdoor activities caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, emergency dispatches decreased by 1,190 and transported patients decreased by 2,184 compared to the third quarter of last year.
