Woori Bank Begins Legal Review on Cancellation of Employment for Fraudulent Hires
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Woori Bank announced on the 15th that it has recently begun legal review procedures related to the cancellation of employment for those who were unlawfully hired due to recruitment irregularities, which became a contentious issue during the National Assembly audit.
At the Financial Supervisory Service audit held by the Political Affairs Committee of the National Assembly on the 13th, questions regarding the cancellation of employment for unlawfully hired individuals in the banking sector continued.
Assembly members Bae Jin-kyo of the Justice Party and Min Byung-duk of the Democratic Party of Korea pointed out that despite final guilty verdicts, the unlawfully hired employees are still working, and emphasized that their employment should be canceled.
In this regard, Kang Sung-mo, Executive Director of Woori Bank, who appeared as a witness, stated, "We will comprehensively review the employees currently working due to recruitment irregularities under legal judgment."

A Woori Bank official said, "We have started a legal review to determine whether it is possible to cancel the employment of unlawfully hired employees, and will decide on the cancellation based on the results of the legal review," adding, "We will do our best to ensure fair recruitment so that such incidents never happen again."
