Martial Arts, East Asia, and Construction & Plant Sector Startup Open Innovation Event Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea International Trade Association held a startup open innovation event with domestic construction and plant company Dongyang Co., Ltd. at the COEX Startup Branch on the 15th.
The event, held to discover outstanding startups to collaborate with Dongyang, which has been steadily growing in the fields of building materials, construction, and infrastructure engineering, featured 8 startups that passed the preliminary screening out of about 70 applicants advancing to the final competition.
The participating startups showcased innovative smart city-related technologies such as AIoT-based smart home sensing analysis, 3D modeling precast concrete (PC) modular systems, construction site surveying and monitoring drones, augmented reality (AR) platforms, and wind energy systems.
Dongyang plans to provide opportunities for joint research and development, investment, and technology partnerships with competitive startups, as well as on-site proof of concept (PoC) opportunities in various fields including construction, plant, and smart city sectors. The Trade Association will offer overseas expansion opportunities such as overseas testbeds and additional points for startup overseas expansion vouchers to the startups participating in the final competition.
Jung Jin-hak, CEO of Yujin Group, the parent company of Dongyang, networked directly with the participating startups and emphasized, “Yujin Group and Dongyang will continuously cooperate with startups pioneering new markets to create new value and growth engines.”

Park Sun-kyung, head of the Innovation Ecosystem Office at the Trade Association, said, “We will continue to hold related events such as meetups and open innovation for large, medium, and small enterprises striving for digital transformation and discovering new growth engines through collaboration with startups,” adding, “We look forward to the active participation of domestic startups seeking scale-up and overseas expansion in the future.”
