At the COVID-19 Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (CDSCH) meeting held at the Government Seoul Office on the same day, Prime Minister Chung discussed with central ministries, 17 metropolitan local governments, and 18 local police agencies ▲COVID-19 measures in the metropolitan area ▲autumn travel quarantine management measures ▲measures to prevent the online distribution of counterfeit goods, among other topics.
Prime Minister Chung mentioned at the meeting, "A large number of confirmed cases, including our workers, have occurred at the Barakah nuclear power plant."
He said, "Although the CDSCH has already prepared quarantine management measures for overseas construction workers twice, it is necessary to re-examine whether these measures are being properly implemented."
Prime Minister Chung instructed related ministries such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to "assess the quarantine management situation of overseas construction workers and take necessary measures to supplement any shortcomings."
He emphasized, "Along with the recent global resurgence of COVID-19, confirmed cases imported from abroad are increasing, especially from countries such as Russia and Nepal."
He then urged quarantine authorities to analyze the characteristics of entrants by country based on accumulated data and to refine quarantine measures for imported cases more precisely.
Prime Minister Chung pointed out, "There are concerns about easing social distancing measures while the daily number of confirmed cases has not yet steadily decreased," adding, "The increase in gatherings of many people has also raised many risk factors that could lead to a sudden surge at any time."
