[Smart Finance Awards] Korea Investment & Securities Simplifies Account Opening with KakaoBank Partnership... Takes Only 1 Minute
MTS Content Division Excellence Award
Korea Investment & Securities' mobile trading system (MTS) 'Korea Investment,' which won the Best Content Award, received great acclaim from customers by simplifying the complex non-face-to-face stock account opening process when it launched a stock account opening partnership service with Kakao Bank in March last year. Through the partnership with the familiar platform Kakao, the account opening procedure via the existing securities app was reduced to one-third, shortening the required time to under one minute. Annually, 1.4 million new customers are attracted through Kakao Bank, and since the partnership, the daily number of MTS users has increased by 350%.
In the first half of this year, Korea Investment & Securities became the first in the securities industry to launch an online financial gift certificate service based on Kakao. After registering on the Korea Investment & Securities mobile app, users can purchase stocks, funds, and commercial paper, and also gift them to acquaintances. An ancillary effect of launching the online financial gift certificate was the reactivation of inactive customers among existing clients. In October last year, Korea Investment & Securities' financial gift certificate was selected as an 'Innovative Financial Service' by the Financial Services Commission, granting exclusive rights to the service for two years.

A new overseas stock mobile app, 'MiniStock,' was introduced. Previously, overseas stocks had to be purchased in units of one share, but now orders can be placed in units of 1,000 KRW down to the sixth decimal place without separate currency exchange. For example, it became possible to buy 10,000 KRW worth of Amazon stock, which costs over 2 million KRW per share. MiniStock also greatly simplified the trading method. Through the shopping bag feature, users can buy multiple stocks and various investment themes with a single click, enhancing convenience. MiniStock was also designated as an 'Innovative Financial Service' by the Financial Services Commission.
