A supplementary service product has been launched that allows users to switch to any desired smartphone or tablet up to twice within two years, regardless of the manufacturer.
On the 13th, LG Uplus announced that it will launch the supplementary service "Mamdaero Phone Exchange," which allows users to replace their phones anytime and anywhere, in partnership with global mobile phone care specialist Volt Tech Korea, on the 16th.
Mamdaero Phone Exchange lets users change devices up to twice within two years to any device they want, regardless of the manufacturer. Users pay a monthly fee ranging from 2,490 to 6,490 KRW depending on the original price of the activated device, and a replacement fee of 12% of the device's original price at the time of service subscription (minimum 50,000 KRW).
Unlike rental or used device compensation services in case of device damage, this service allows users to directly choose the product they want. Users can switch to a new product with a similar price to the previously used device or a used phone (Grade S) with similar specifications.
In addition to smartphones, second devices such as tablets and smartwatches can also be subscribed to. All unlocked phones released within one year are included in the service. However, foldable smartphone users cannot subscribe. Damaged devices can be replaced, but overlapping subscriptions with loss/damage insurance are not allowed.
Unlike mobile phone loss and damage insurance, which can only be subscribed to within 60 days of activation, Mamdaero Phone Exchange can be subscribed to within one year of activation. There is no need to visit a service center or submit documents for insurance processing. After checking the phone’s condition through AI-based remote diagnosis, the device can be replaced by visiting the desired location.
