Kim Jong-in: "North Korea's Military Parade, a Clear Violation of Military Agreement... Moon Begging for 'End-of-War Declaration' Amid This"
Government and Ruling Party's Lukewarm Stance on Military Parade Under Fire... "Do You Have a Plan if Kim Jong-un Withdraws Kindness and Attacks?"
Raising Suspicions Over Lime and Optimus Scandals, Emphasizing the Need for a 'Special Prosecutor'
[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Lim Chun-han] Kim Jong-in, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, fiercely criticized North Korea's military parade as a "clear violation of the military agreement and a security threat." He strongly condemned President Moon Jae-in's 'end-of-war declaration' as an "act that inevitably leads to the end." Regarding the Lime and Optimus scandals, he defined them as power-driven corruption, stating that "ruling party figures used their power to engage in team play."
On the morning of the 12th, at the Emergency Response Committee meeting held at the National Assembly, Chairman Kim said, "President Moon should calmly consider how the military threats revealed in North Korea's military parade will affect South Korea's security in the future."
He pointed out, "North Korea's display of advanced intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and multiple rocket launchers at the parade is a clear violation of the military agreement and a security threat," adding, "(North Korea) has not changed; the threat has only increased, and as long as North Korea's denuclearization is not achieved, South Korea can never be free from North Korea's threat."
Regarding President Moon's end-of-war declaration, he criticized, "It is an act that inevitably brings about the end for South Korea and is unconstitutional behavior," and said, "It is a unilateral plea to North Korea to 'just end the war' without coordinating opinions with the United States, and North Korea has shown no response to this."
On the Lime and Optimus scandals, he said, "It is a power-driven corruption gate scandal that disrupts our country's financial order," criticizing, "It is hard for us to imagine how meticulously ruling party figures used their power to team up and plunder investors' pockets."
Chairman Kim also said, "Especially, there is suspicion that the prosecution and the ruling party recognized the corruption gate early this year but concealed the corruption from being exposed before the general election," and added, "The fact that the Securities Crime Joint Investigation Unit, which was investigating related corruption allegations, was disbanded immediately after the current Minister of Justice took office, and that the Prosecutor General who was leading the investigation into key ruling party allegations had his hands and feet cut off, seems to have become even clearer."
He emphasized, "The prosecution should make good use of the last opportunity," and said, "Through a strict investigation, they must reveal the substance and truth of the power-driven corruption allegations and use this as an opportunity to restore the prosecution's function and honor and establish constitutional order."
Joo Ho-young, the floor leader, also criticized, saying, "North Korea held a bizarre military parade late at night," and added, "Despite this serious situation, the Moon Jae-in administration is responding as if it is expecting and paying attention to the restoration of inter-Korean dialogue, which is like knocking on a window while asleep, just because of one phrase from Kim Jong-un, the Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, calling 'beloved southern compatriots.'
He pointed out, "'Do not trust the enemy's words, but look at the enemy's capabilities' is the most basic principle in military science, but President Moon is weakening the South Korea-U.S. alliance by proposing an end-of-war declaration in the midst of this," and said, "It is okay for someone to die alone after trusting the enemy commander’s words, but the person responsible for the lives of 50 million people cannot unilaterally declare the end of the war."
Regarding the Lime and Optimus scandals, he criticized, "If the investigation team remains as it is, a proper investigation cannot be conducted," and said, "The investigation team should be replaced as soon as possible, and a special investigation team or special prosecutor appointed by the Prosecutor General should be appointed for the public to accept it."
