SME Central Association Holds Policy Meeting Inviting Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province
Cooperating for Regional Economic Growth through Revitalization of Small and Medium Enterprise Cooperatives

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (Kbiz) announced on the 12th that it held a policy meeting with small and medium business owners by inviting Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, at the Mokpo Hyundai Hotel.
This meeting was organized to promote closer cooperation between the small and medium business sector in Jeollanam-do and the Jeollanam-do provincial government to overcome the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and to revitalize the regional economy through the activation of small and medium enterprises and cooperatives.
About 30 participants attended the meeting, including Kim Ki-moon, Chairman of Kbiz, Kim Seok-won, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Small and Medium Business Association, chairpersons of cooperatives by industry in Jeonnam, and heads of related institutions in Jeonnam.
At the site, various local SME issues were raised, including △establishment of a basic plan for fostering Jeonnam SME cooperatives and budget reflection △expansion of the cooperative recommendation system to support sales channels for local SME products △increase in purchases of local SME products by institutions relocated to innovation cities △expansion of local-restricted bidding by local governments and public institutions △activation of purchase and budget support for Kim Hwal-sung treatment agents △and expansion of budget support for SME PL group insurance.
Kim Ki-moon, Chairman of Kbiz, said, “Jeollanam-do’s Blue Economy strategy is attracting attention as a case of creating sustainable growth engines for the regional economy along with the Korean New Deal policy,” adding, “Government and local governments need to pay much attention and support so that SME cooperatives can become a successful model for revitalizing the regional economy.”
Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, stated, “Despite the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and difficult economic conditions, small and medium enterprises have been a steadfast pillar protecting the Jeonnam regional economy,” and added, “We will do our best to devise support measures for the proposed policy issues.”

Meanwhile, at the meeting, a business agreement was signed between ‘Namdo Jangteo,’ an online shopping mall operated by Jeollanam-do, and ‘Noran Usan Welfare Plus,’ operated by Kbiz, pledging mutual cooperation between the two organizations.
