Namwon-si, Special Quarantine Measures for Foot-and-Mouth Disease, Avian Influenza, and ASF Implemented
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 8th that it has designated the period from this month, when the risk of foot-and-mouth disease and highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) is high, until February next year as a special quarantine period and will implement special quarantine measures for livestock infectious diseases.
As a preemptive quarantine measure, the city conducted a comprehensive inspection of poultry farms, administered a mass foot-and-mouth disease vaccination in the first half of the year, and supported the installation of wild boar exclusion fences for pig farms. Additionally, to prevent livestock diseases, the city operates a livestock vehicle disinfection and washing facility at key points 24 hours a day throughout the year.
Furthermore, to block foot-and-mouth disease, a mass vaccination for 50,000 cattle and goats will be conducted starting from the 12th.
