KRC Wins Design and Supervision Contract for Rural Development Project in Ethiopia
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] Korea Rural Community Corporation announced on the 8th that it has won the detailed design and construction supervision consulting contract for the 'Groundwater Irrigation and Rural Development Project' commissioned by the Ethiopian government.
This project is a rural development project that includes groundwater wells and irrigation development near Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The corporation formed a public-private joint consortium to win the project, and the contract is worth 9.8 billion KRW out of the total project cost of 130 billion KRW.

The corporation plans to install irrigation facilities such as 101 groundwater wells and irrigation pipes and supply agricultural water to 4,995 hectares of farmland in the Ada-Becho area. It will also establish comprehensive agricultural infrastructure from production to processing, including rural access roads, drinking water supply facilities, agricultural technology areas, and agricultural processing centers. The project will officially start in December and will proceed for about 60 months.
