View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized on the 8th regarding the national audit, saying, “The Democratic Party of Korea is infringing on the public’s right to know and paralyzing the audit by refusing to approve witnesses and reference persons for the audit. They are also stubbornly rejecting witnesses who voluntarily wish to appear in each standing committee,” calling it “an outrageous act and atrocity that obstructs the audit.”
At the emergency countermeasure meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Joo said, “Especially regarding the suspicions about Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae’s son and the shooting incident involving the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries officials, they are absolutely refusing to accept even a single witness,” adding, “They would rather be criticized for refusing to approve witnesses than allow the witnesses to appear.”
Floor Leader Joo pointed out, “Democratic Party members should feel ashamed and uphold at least the minimum dignity as lawmakers,” and criticized, “Their desperate and all-out efforts to block witness approval evoke not only pity but also a sense of sorrow.”
He added, “It is hard to tell whether they want to conduct the audit or are just obstructing it,” and stated, “There are countless suspicions of government mismanagement and corruption, but they are paralyzing the legislative branch’s fundamental audit function and encouraging a watered-down, ineffective audit. If they have no intention of conducting the audit, they should stop obstructing and just stay quiet.”
Floor Leader Joo also criticized, “According to a survey conducted by our party’s Yeouido Research Institute, we examined the number of appearances by lawmakers and affiliated personnel from each party on public broadcasters such as KBS, MBC, and TBS,” and said, “Regardless of the quality of the content, even in terms of simple quantitative comparison, these have become government- and ruling party-friendly media that fail to maintain mechanical neutrality.”

He continued, “The situation is the same with portals.
