In an interview with KBS Radio's 'Joo Jin-woo Live' on the same day, Representative Song said, "Since he is the husband of the Foreign Minister, it has become an issue and seems to be out of step with the public's expectations."
He added, "In fact, there was a recommendation to refrain from overseas travel to the U.S., but going to the U.S. is not specifically prohibited," and pointed out, "Former People Power Party lawmaker Min Kyung-wook is currently in Washington causing national embarrassment, and former leader Hwang Kyo-ahn is also said to be planning to go there, isn't he?"
Prior to Representative Song's remarks, on the 5th, Park Beom-gye, also from the same party, appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and criticized former lawmaker Min's trip to the U.S.
Representative Park said, "He avoided trial and went on a trip he was told not to take, and went to the U.S. to achieve his political goals, holding a placard that said 'South Korea is a backward country.'"
In response, Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party who appeared on the radio together, said, "Professor Lee, the husband of Minister Kang, is a different case from an ordinary citizen," and rebutted, "From the standpoint of the Foreign Minister asking to refrain from travel, is it really in line with public sentiment for her husband to do that?"
As the controversy spread, former lawmaker Min Kyung-wook posted on his Facebook on the 6th, "Is the husband of the Foreign Minister who went to the U.S. to buy a yacht and travel the East Coast the same as Min Kyung-wook, who crossed over to the U.S. to be patriotic?"

He continued, "The ruling party lawmakers argue that Min Kyung-wook should be equally criticized because the husband of Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, who advised to refrain from overseas travel, went on a trip to the U.S. to buy a yacht worth hundreds of millions, and the public is in an uproar," and criticized, "Do they think the public will believe it just because they say so and write articles like that?"
