US Joint Chiefs Chairman Also in Self-Quarantine... Military Command Faces Consecutive Vacancies
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Key leaders of the U.S. military have entered self-quarantine due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to CNN on the 6th (local time), the U.S. Coast Guard Vice Commandant tested positive for COVID-19, prompting high-ranking military leaders including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to begin self-quarantine.
Chairman Milley is reported to have attended a meeting with the Coast Guard Vice Commandant who tested positive.
CNN cited officials saying that Air Force Chief of Staff Charles Brown, Navy Chief of Naval Operations Michael Gilday, and Space Operations Commander John Raymond are also working from home. Cyber Command Commander Paul Nakasone is also reportedly under quarantine.
The Department of Defense explained that all potential close contacts are self-quarantining and tested negative for COVID-19 in tests conducted that morning.
