[Featured Stock] DK Lock Grows as Key Partner for Hyundai Hydrogen Vehicles...Proves Core Component Technology for Hydrogen Cars
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] DK Lock is showing strong performance.
As of 9:49 AM on the 6th, DK Lock is trading at 11,900 KRW, up 2.59% from the previous day.
On the 6th, DK Lock announced that it has obtained certification for two types of temperature-responsive pressure safety device container accessories for hydrogen vehicle fuel tanks from the Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS). Since last year, the company has been internally developing products to expand its hydrogen vehicle business.
This device automatically opens to relieve pressure when the hydrogen fuel tank is exposed to fire and the temperature rises, ensuring safety under any harsh conditions for hydrogen fuel tanks used in hydrogen vehicles. The Nexo contains three hydrogen fuel tanks. Each tank inlet is equipped with a TPRD.
The TPRD is a safety device designed and developed for 700-bar class hydrogen vehicle fuel tanks. In case of fire, a metal fuse melts to release hydrogen gas from the tank, controlling tank pressure and preventing explosions. Compared to existing methods, DK Lock has developed a special material metal fuse in-house to further enhance safety.
In December last year, Hyundai Motor announced plans to increase annual sales of hydrogen vehicles to 110,000 units by 2025. Additionally, global market research firm IHS forecasts that the global hydrogen vehicle market will expand from 260,000 units in 2022 to 2.2 million units by 2030, predicting accelerated popularization and expansion of hydrogen vehicles in the future.
A DK Lock official explained, "Through additional application development, we plan to expand further development so that safety valves widely used across all industrial sectors can be universally applied not only in the hydrogen industry but also in other industries such as CNG, including fire safety devices."
Last year, DK Lock already obtained EC79 certification, the European hydrogen-powered vehicle type approval, for tube fittings and ORFS (O-Ring Face Seal) fittings used in the hydrogen industry. Currently, it is the only company in the same industry to hold this certification. DK Lock is continuously expanding the supply of fittings and valves for hydrogen fuel cell-related products, including eight parts in the fuel supply module of Hyundai Motor's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, Nexo.
