The Hapcheon-gun Rural Workforce Bank plays a significant role in alleviating labor shortages on farms struggling during the busy farming season by securing idle labor from nearby cities and matching them with farms facing labor shortages.
Operating since 2016, the Hapcheon-gun Rural Workforce Bank provides free job matching services for agricultural work. During the first half of the year, it matched 2,145 workers to 232 farms for garlic and onion harvesting, receiving great responses from farmers.
This fall, to secure agricultural labor, the Rural Workforce Bank plans to operate intensively until mid-November by securing about 70 members from the Senior Citizens Employment Support Centers in Hapcheon-gun as well as Jinju, Ulsan, and Busan.
