Kia Motors Sells 260,230 Units in September... Both Domestic and Export Sales Increase
Domestic Sales Increase by 22%... Carnival '11,030 Units'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Kia Motors announced on the 5th that it sold 260,023 units in September, a 10.3% increase compared to the same period last year (51,211 units domestically, 208,812 units overseas). During this period, domestic and overseas sales increased by 21.9% and 7.7%, respectively.
By model, the Sportage was the best-selling with 33,999 units, followed by the Seltos with 31,144 units, and the K5 (Optima) with 25,365 units.
Kia sold 51,211 units domestically last month. The best-selling vehicle was the Carnival, recording 11,030 units. Accordingly, leisure vehicles (RVs), including the Carnival, sold a total of 27,707 units, with the Sorento at 9,151 units and the Seltos at 3,882 units.
Passenger car models totaled 17,275 units, including the K5 with 7,485 units, Morning with 2,437 units, K7 with 2,344 units, and Ray with 2,294 units.
For commercial models, the Bongo III sold 6,013 units, and combined with buses and trucks, total sales reached 6,229 units.
Overseas sales recorded 208,812 units, a 7.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The Sportage was the top-selling model overseas with 32,736 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 27,262 units, and the K3 (Forte) with 21,212 units.

A Kia Motors official stated, “Although management uncertainty has increased due to the worsening COVID-19 situation, we are minimizing negative impacts through proactive risk management. We will overcome difficulties by leading with competitive new models such as the Sorento, Carnival, and the Sorento gasoline 2.5 turbo model scheduled for release in the fourth quarter.”
