Despite 3 Billion Won Distributed... 70% of 'Gachi Sapsida' Participating Stores Report Zero Sales
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Among the vendors listed on the 'Gachi Sapsida' platform operated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, about 70% reported zero sales.
On the 5th, Choi Seung-jae, a member of the People Power Party, revealed that a full survey of sales from all 1,215 vendors on 'Gachi Sapsida' showed that 829 had no sales at all.
There were 292 vendors who sold less than 1 million KRW worth of products, and only 1.3% (16 vendors) achieved sales exceeding 10 million KRW.
The Gachi Sapsida platform is an online shopping mall launched in December last year to help small business owners and self-employed individuals develop sales channels. It gained attention in May when President Moon Jae-in appeared wearing a mask branded with 'Gachi Sapsida' to promote it.
However, most of the products listed on the platform are from vendors already operating on privately run online shopping malls, and only about 10% of the vendors are small business owners and self-employed individuals newly joining this platform. The platform's operating budget exceeded 3 billion KRW, with 719 million KRW spent last year and 2.4 billion KRW this year.

Representative Choi stated, "'Gachi Sapsida' platform has failed to attract consumer attention due to various issues, including the lack of differentiated strategies from private online shopping malls from the start," adding, "Instead of focusing on so-called popular products with high recognition, it is necessary to gradually create and expand success stories through continuous education and consulting."
