BMW Launches New 5 Series and 6 Series Gran Turismo in Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] BMW Korea has officially launched the premium business sedan New 5 Series and the luxury tourer model New 6 Series Gran Turismo.
On the 5th, BMW Korea held a launch event for the new 5 Series and 6 Series Gran Turismo at Puddle House in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, and announced the domestic launch prices.
The 5 Series launched on this day is a facelifted model of the 7th generation. The existing 7th generation model established itself as the representative imported business sedan in Korea by selling a total of 77,000 units over the past four years, based on its sophisticated design, comfortable interior space, excellent efficiency, and sporty driving performance.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is a model with a unique concept, featuring a stylish exterior design, comfortable and luxurious interior, and excellent space utilization, making it a versatile vehicle for both business and leisure.
The BMW New 5 Series and New 6 Series Gran Turismo launched on this day were first unveiled worldwide in Korea last May. They feature a more refined and sophisticated design along with various advanced functions such as ▲Driving Assistant Professional ▲Reversing Assistant as standard on all models. They will also be available with various powertrains, including a 48V mild hybrid system.
'The Standard of Business Sedans' New 5 Series... Prices Range from 63.6 Million to 116.4 Million KRW
The BMW New 5 Series expresses BMW’s distinctive strong presence and sporty style more clearly on the exterior. First, the length has increased by 27mm compared to the previous model, boasting a more dynamic proportion. The front features a kidney grille integrated into a single frame and adaptive LED headlights with 'L'-shaped daytime running lights, emphasizing a restrained yet clear atmosphere. The rear showcases new 3D taillights along with square-shaped exhaust pipes, highlighting BMW’s unique sporty charm.
Inside, the use of Sensatec dashboard and new black high-gloss trim around the gear knob enhances the sense of luxury. Additionally, a 12.3-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster, center console display, and high-resolution head-up display are standard features.
Various advanced driver assistance features are also standard. The 'Driving Assistant Professional,' which includes active cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and collision avoidance steering assist, is equipped as standard on all models. Notably, the 'Driving Assist View' function, which displays surrounding traffic conditions in 3D graphics on the instrument cluster, has been added, allowing drivers to check the environment at a glance.
Furthermore, new ConnectedDrive functions have been added, greatly enhancing user convenience. The New 5 Series supports Android Auto alongside Apple CarPlay, enabling wireless connection between smartphones and the vehicle. This allows easy access to navigation, schedules, calls, and other key smartphone functions through the vehicle display, instrument cluster, and head-up display.
The New 5 Series will be launched domestically with a gasoline lineup consisting of the 520i, 530i, 530i xDrive, 540i xDrive, and M550i xDrive; diesel models 523d and 523d xDrive equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology; and the plug-in hybrid model 530e. Prices range from 63.6 million to 116.4 million KRW.
In particular, the 48V mild hybrid technology utilizing a 48V starter-generator contributes to minimizing fuel consumption and improving ride comfort based on strong power and excellent regenerative braking efficiency. It provides an instantaneous 11 horsepower boost during overtaking or acceleration from a stop, delivering an electric boost effect, and assists the engine during steady cruising to enhance fuel efficiency.
The plug-in hybrid model New 530e, equipped with the latest BMW eDrive technology, combines a 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 184 horsepower with an electric motor providing up to 109 horsepower, delivering a total output of up to 292 horsepower.
Unique Presence Luxury Tourer, BMW New 6 Series Gran Turismo
The BMW New 6 Series Gran Turismo is a luxury tourer model that combines the comfort of a sedan, the versatility of a sport utility vehicle (SUV), and the style of a coupe. It has evolved into a highly refined model with a clearer exterior design and driver assistance systems that are closer to autonomous driving.
First, the exterior reflects BMW’s latest design language. The BMW kidney grille, surrounded by a single frame, is designed with a protruding upper part, exuding a sportier charm. The adaptive LED headlights with new graphics harmonize to create a strong impression. Additionally, the front bumper design not only adds a dynamic feel but is also engineered to improve airflow from the front to the air breather, contributing to enhanced efficiency.
Inside, the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and control display, and a 4-zone air conditioning system are standard. The black high-gloss finish around the center console and Nappa leather seats add a touch of luxury. The trunk space, starting at 600 liters, can be expanded up to 1800 liters by folding the rear seatbacks. An electric tailgate and Comfort Access function make loading and unloading items convenient.
The New 6 Series Gran Turismo also comes standard with advanced driver assistance systems such as Driving Assistant Professional and Reversing Assistant, providing a more comfortable and safer driving environment. Additionally, the BMW Display Key is provided as standard, allowing the use of the ‘Remote Control Parking’ function to park or retrieve the vehicle remotely in tight parking spaces. Digital keys in the form of credit cards and mobile digital keys using iPhones are also available.

The New 6 Series lineup consists of gasoline models 630i xDrive and 640i xDrive; diesel models 620d and 620d xDrive; and the 630d xDrive equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology. Among these, the 630i xDrive will be launched first in Korea. The trims are offered in Luxury Line and M Sport Package, with prices ranging from 89.2 million to 92.2 million KRW.
