LG Wing, Domestic Release on October 6

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Electronics will launch the new form factor smartphone 'LG Wing,' which allows two displays to be used by rotating the screen, in the domestic market on the 6th.
On the 4th, LG Electronics announced that it will release the LG Wing in the Korean market on the 6th through the three major mobile carriers and unlocked channels, and will sequentially launch it in the U.S. market starting with Verizon on the 15th.
Korea and the U.S. are the most important markets for LG smartphones. By consecutively launching the LG Wing, the first product introduced through the Explorer Project, in these two markets, LG plans to actively target customers seeking new changes. The Explorer Project is LG smartphone's innovation strategy that focuses on evolved usability of smartphones and aims to proactively discover areas with growth potential.
LG Electronics set the domestic launch price of the LG Wing at 1,098,900 KRW to allow consumers who want change to experience the new form factor at an aggressive price. This is the lowest price among new form factor smartphones released in Korea so far. The LG Wing is equipped with two OLED displays measuring 6.8 inches and 3.9 inches respectively. Although displays account for a large portion of smartphone component costs, LG Electronics explained that they have removed price bubbles. LG Electronics will provide a ‘dedicated case’ and ‘Type-C earphones’ together in the LG Wing product box released in the domestic market.
The LG Wing is a product that adds a different user experience by combining the convenience of a familiar bar-type smartphone with a ‘Swivel Mode’ that allows the screen to be rotated horizontally. Users can use it like a regular smartphone and, when needed, rotate the main screen clockwise to use it together with the hidden second screen. In Swivel Mode, users can use both screens with a single application or use two different apps.
