Prime Minister Jeong Participates in High-Level Meeting on Development Financing at UN General Assembly
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun announced on the 29th that he will attend the "Leaders' Meeting on Development Financing in the Era of COVID-19," held on the occasion of the 75th United Nations General Assembly, via video conference, and deliver a speech on the activities and contributions of the Korean government for sustainable recovery, according to the Prime Minister's Office.
This meeting is a summit-level conference chaired by the UN Secretary-General, the Prime Minister of Canada, and the Prime Minister of Jamaica, addressing ways to secure financing to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries during the COVID-19 era.
As the Korean government's contribution to the international community's sustainable recovery, Prime Minister Chung plans to explain ▲ the digital and green transition and strengthening of social safety nets through the Korean New Deal ▲ sharing quarantine experiences and expanding official development assistance (ODA) for COVID-19 response ▲ faithful implementation of the Paris Agreement through updating Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) ▲ participation in the Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI) of the G20 and Paris Club.
The Korean government plans to continue actively supporting developing countries' efforts to respond to COVID-19 while participating in international discussions for the sustainable recovery of the global community.
