The visit to the traditional market was arranged ahead of Chuseok to support quarantine supplies for overcoming the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to listen to the difficulties faced by merchants due to the economic downturn in Gyeonggi Province. It was also promoted as part of social contribution activities by delivering goods purchased at the market to social welfare facilities.
Kim Ki-moon, Chairman of KSMB, Son In-guk, Chairman of the Small and Medium Business Love Sharing Foundation, and Lee Hak-young, Chairman of the Industry, Trade, and Small and Medium Venture Business Committee, toured the market and handed out masks and hand sanitizers to merchants. Each merchant received 20 masks and 2 hand sanitizers free of charge.
Additionally, through shopping at the traditional market, goods worth 10 million KRW, including fruits, were purchased. The purchased goods were donated to four social welfare facilities in the metropolitan area.
The Small and Medium Business Love Sharing Foundation actively carries out social contribution activities to support marginalized groups and revitalize traditional markets. In August, it visited Yeongdeungpo Market in Seoul to boost the health and morale of merchants by purchasing 800 chickens and ingredients to prepare and deliver Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup). Next month, it plans to visit traditional markets again to support market merchants.
The Small and Medium Business Love Sharing Foundation is a public interest foundation established by KSMB. It was founded in 2012 to expand social contribution activities within the small and medium business sector. Every year during Seol and Chuseok, it donates Onnuri gift certificates worth 100 million KRW to welfare facilities nationwide.
