Google Video Meeting Platform to Offer Free Use Only Up to 60 Minutes Starting October
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The free version of Google's video conferencing platform, Hangouts Meet, will be limited to 60 minutes or less starting in October.
According to IT media outlet The Verge on the 28th, Google allowed all users to use Hangouts Meet without time limits until September 30th after the rapid increase in demand for video conferencing platforms following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in April.
The Verge reported, "Google appears to be sticking to this timeline," adding, "After September 30th, the free version will be limited to 60 minutes or less." A Google spokesperson confirmed to The Verge, "There is nothing to announce regarding promotion changes or the expiration of premium features."

Additionally, Google will unveil premium features for G Suite and G Suite for Education members on the 30th. These include meetings with up to 250 participants, live streaming to up to 100,000 viewers within a single domain, and the ability to record meetings to Google Drive. The Verge noted that these features were previously only available to enterprise customers paying $25 per month for G Suite.
