Seogwipo Coast Guard Chief Conducts Safety Inspection of Passenger and Cargo Ships Ahead of Chuseok Holiday
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Do Gi-beom, Chief of Seogwipo Maritime Police Station, visited the ferry and passenger boat business sites on the 25th to inspect safety management in anticipation of a significant increase in tourists visiting Seogwipo during the Chuseok holiday.
During the inspection, Chief Do checked ▲whether an adequate number of life-saving equipment is stocked at the pier, ▲the risk of safety accidents during passenger boarding and disembarking and identification of hazardous spots within the pier, and ▲whether operators and workers are familiar with their individual duties in case of emergencies. He also held a meeting with the operators to listen to on-site opinions and urged the prevention of safety accidents during the holiday period.
Chief Do stated, “We will do our best in maritime safety management so that the public can enjoy a safe Chuseok holiday, and we will ensure a thorough response system to immediately carry out rescue operations in case of accidents.”
