Xi Jinping "Significant Achievements in Xinjiang Development"... Responds to US Pressure on Xinjiang
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyung-soo] Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized his determination to maintain existing policies toward the Xinjiang region and respond accordingly. This appears to be a rebuttal to the United States' criticism of China's policy on the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region as "human rights annihilation."
According to the People's Daily on the 27th, President Xi evaluated that the development efforts in the Xinjiang region have achieved significant results at the 3rd Central Xinjiang Work Forum held in Beijing the previous day.
President Xi stated, "The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China must aim for social stability in Xinjiang," and urged, "We must unite public sentiment in Xinjiang to solidify the shared consciousness of the Chinese nation and promote the Sinicization of Islam in Xinjiang to foster core socialist values."
The meeting was attended by the Standing Committee members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, including Premier Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng, and Wang Yang.
President Xi said, "Governing the Xinjiang region well is an important issue," and emphasized, "The Party Central Committee and all departments must thoroughly carry out related work to promote stability and development in Xinjiang."
