Kim Mikyung, Eunpyeong District Mayor, Receives 71% Positive Rating for 7th Term Local Government Management
71.0% Positive Rating, 80.9% Say COVID-19 Response is ‘Doing Well’
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) conducted a public opinion survey on the operation of district administration to mark the 2nd anniversary of the 7th local government, revealing that 7 out of 10 residents positively evaluated the overall district administration.
According to the survey results, excluding 'Don't know/No response,' 71.0% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the district administration, while only 29.0% were dissatisfied.
The policy areas with the highest satisfaction were improvement of environmental issues (21.6%), improvement of housing/living convenience facilities (19.6%), and expansion of welfare (18.4%), in that order.
In particular, regarding the response to COVID-19, 80.9% responded that the administration is 'doing well,' excluding 'Don't know/No response,' giving high marks to the 7th local government's COVID-19 administration.
Evaluations of major policies or issues pursued during the term positively assessed the expansion of medical facilities through the opening of Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital (88.4%), efforts to expand transportation infrastructure such as GTX-A and the Western Light Rail Transit (71.9%), attraction of Seoul National University of Science and Technology's 2nd campus (69.1%), and the Bulkwangcheon Cultural Tourism Belt project (67.6%).
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, "I thank the residents who positively evaluated the district administration over the past two years, and we will not be satisfied with this survey result but will implement more detailed policies that residents can feel and be more satisfied with." She added, "In particular, I will make greater efforts to become a mayor who listens carefully to every small voice of the residents, communicates on-site, and empathizes together."
Meanwhile, this survey was commissioned to Win-G Korea Consulting, a professional public opinion research agency, and conducted a public opinion survey on items such as satisfaction with district administration, satisfaction with residential environment, and evaluation of district administration targeting 500 local residents aged 18 and over.

The survey was conducted by extracting samples balanced by gender, age, and region, using telephone interviews, with a confidence level of 95% and a sampling error of ±4.4%.
