KEPCO Engineering & Construction teams up with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for offshore floating nuclear power plant technology development collaboration

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Electric Power Technology announced on the 24th that it exchanged a long-term cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering to jointly advance marine nuclear power technology development.
The two organizations will jointly carry out marine nuclear technology development, business discovery, and projects.
KEPCO E&C has been developing the marine small modular reactor (SMR) 'BANDI-60' since 2016.
KEPCO E&C expects that the development of a marine floating nuclear power plant equipped with BANDI-60 will gain momentum through this agreement.
Yeom Hak-gi, Director of the Power Technology Institute at KEPCO E&C, said, "We expect synergy between Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's excellent marine floating body design and manufacturing technology and KEPCO E&C's advanced nuclear technology," adding, "We hope to continue a strategic cooperative relationship in the future based on this agreement."
