Eunpyeong District Library Selected for 'Our Neighborhood Humanities Education Material Development' Project
Research on the ‘Sirumoe Village’ Community Created Through Culture and Arts at Eunpyeong District Library
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Eunpyeong-gu Public Library has been selected for the special program of the library 'Humanities on the Road' hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korean Library Association ? the project for developing humanities education materials for our neighborhood.
The 'Project for Developing Humanities Education Materials for Our Neighborhood' is a research project to discover cultural communities in our neighborhood that can be used as educational content for the library's 'Humanities on the Road' program. It will be conducted in collaboration with Han (HAN) Cultural Contents Research Institute (CEO Han Gyudong) under the theme of creating cultural arts titled 'Sirumoe Village Community Story.'
Han Gyudong, director of Han (HAN) Cultural Contents Research Institute, served as a public official in Eunpyeong-gu for 40 years, working as the head of Galhyeon-dong, head of Jeungsan-dong, and public relations officer. He cultivated the village and promoted local festivals, publishing the village record book "If You Know the Village, You See the Joy," the Eunpyeong-gu Office promotional booklet "Son-gil," and a personal poetry collection "Beautiful When Shaken."
Currently, he is active as a poet, calligrapher, director of the Eunpyeong Cultural Foundation, and a director of both the Korean Fine Arts Association and the Korean Calligraphy Association.

An official from Eunpyeong-gu Public Library stated, “We will closely cover and collect records of the lives related to major facilities and convenience facilities in Eunpyeong-gu, village festivals, and residents’ autonomous activities, producing educational content materials to provide various opportunities for humanities education.”
