Busan Coding Competition Finale with 'Mail Award Ceremony'
Dongmyeong University to Mail Certificates to 22 Awardees in High School and University Divisions
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongmyung University (President Jeong Hong-seop) SW-Centered University Project Group jointly hosted the 2020 Busan Coding Competition on September 5th with the Busan National University SW-Centered University Project Group and Dongseo University SW-Centered University Project Group.
This was the second competition following 2019, held separately for high school and university divisions.
The theme was algorithm problem-solving using programming languages (C, C++, JAVA, Python, Python3), solving various mathematical problems arising in daily life.
A total of 56 high school students and 116 university students from Busan applied, with 51 high school students and 70 university students competing.
Prizes including Grand Prize (Busan Mayor’s Award), Gold Prize (Host University President’s Award), Silver Prize (Host University Project Group Director’s Award), and Bronze Prize (Busan SW-Centered University Council Chairman’s Award) along with awards will be given to 11 high school and 11 university students who demonstrated creative problem-solving in problem-solving, algorithm design, and coding areas.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the awards ceremony originally scheduled for September 18th was canceled. Instead, certificates will be mailed to the 22 awardees. Detailed competition results can be checked on the websites of each host university project group.
Jo Mi-kyung, Director of Dongmyung University SW-Centered University Project Group, said, “The competition was held to raise awareness of the importance of software coding and to discover creative and innovative talents,” adding, “We will continue to promote various coding-related projects and programs that will become fundamental knowledge for the new era so that our country can lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.”

This competition was organized under the ‘Busan Software (SW) Talent Development Promotion Plan’ aiming to realize a ‘Software-Centered Society Busan’ where software can be experienced, recognized, and utilized, focusing on strengthening coding capabilities and spreading value among students in Busan city.
