New Tucson Surpasses 10,000 Pre-Orders on First Day... Hyundai SUV Sets All-Time Record
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Hyundai Motor Company's new Tucson set a record as the best-selling Hyundai SUV on the first day of pre-orders, surpassing 10,000 units.
On the 17th, Hyundai Motor announced that the number of pre-orders for 'The All-New Tucson,' which began nationwide at dealerships the previous day, exceeded 10,842 units on the first day alone.
This achievement ranks third among Hyundai models, following The New Grandeur (17,294 units) and the new Avante (10,058 units), and marks the first time a Hyundai SUV has surpassed 10,000 pre-orders on the first day.
Meanwhile, the online world premiere event for the new Tucson held on the 15th attracted a cumulative 410,000 viewers (as of 4 p.m. on the 16th), demonstrating the high global customer expectations for the Tucson, reborn after five years. On the same day, Hyundai also released five TV commercials showcasing the new Tucson's various lifestyle spaces.
The new Tucson is based on the design identity of 'Sensuous Sportiness,' implementing the Parametric Dynamics theme to create an innovative and sporty design. The third-generation platform offers a wider space and improved driving stability, while the comfortable climate control system and state-of-the-art infotainment features provide a level of quality that surpasses its class.
The powertrain lineup includes three engine options: the Smartstream 1.6 Turbo Hybrid engine, introduced for the first time in the Tucson model, the Smartstream 1.6 Turbo gasoline engine, and the Smartstream 2.0 diesel engine.
A Hyundai Motor official stated, "The Tucson is the first SUV model in Hyundai's history to surpass 10,000 pre-orders on the first day," adding, "The new Tucson, with design and quality that transcend its class, will signal the revival of the compact SUV market."
