Yongin City Sends Notification Letters to Small Water Bill Defaulters
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is distributing delinquency notices and easy payment guides to about 2,000 small-scale water bill defaulters. This measure aims to inform small-scale defaulters about payment methods to prevent sudden water service disconnections due to unawareness of their delinquency.
The recipients of the notices are water users who have delinquent amounts between 50,000 and 500,000 KRW for four or more times and have been difficult to manage due to lack of contact information.
Delinquents who receive the notice can pay the overdue amount within the designated payment deadline.
If full payment is difficult, contacting the Water Delinquency Team allows for assistance such as installment payments or suspension of seizure and water service disconnection according to the circumstances.
To this end, last month the city selected 58 workers for the 'Yongin 6000+' Hope Job program to distribute delinquency notices and inspect water meters for 4 hours a day over three months until November.
Also, to minimize in-person consultations amid COVID-19 spread prevention, a service was established where delinquents can send their water user number and name via mobile text message, and the person in charge will provide consultation by phone.
