According to the province on the 10th, the designated tangible cultural assets are ▲Portrait and official documents of Yu Hyo-geol (No. 253) ▲Cheonan Eunseoksa Amitabha Assembly Painting and Draft (No. 254) ▲Gongju Hakrimsa Hobopron (No. 255) ▲Asan Samdosugun Haebang Chongdo (No. 256) ▲Asan Hyeonjong Jeongmi Onhaeng Mangcheondo Folding Screen (No. 257) ▲Dangjin Seongdangsa Jesukcheon Painting (No. 258), totaling six items.
Additionally, the provincial monument designation includes Taean Eupseong (No. 195), and the provincial cultural material designation includes the Asan Songamsa Stone Standing Buddha Statue (No. 425).
Among these, the portrait and official documents of Yu Hyo-geol include the portrait of military officer Yu Hyo-geol, who was appointed as a Jinmu meritorious subject for suppressing Yi Gwal's Rebellion in 1624, along with Yu Hyo-geol's Jinmu meritorious subject official documents, posthumous title documents, and posthumous promotion documents. This cultural asset is highly valued for its historical significance as it shows typical iconography and painting techniques of 17th-century meritorious portraits.
The Cheonan Eunseoksa Amitabha Assembly Painting and Draft is a Buddhist painting from the mid-19th century that shows the works of monks Bong-eun and other painters active at Magoksa Temple. The draft reveals the process from the initial sketch to the completed painting, making it a valuable resource with high art historical value.
The Gongju Hakrimsa Hobopron is an important document that allows examination of the relationship between Buddhism and Confucianism during the late Goryeo and Joseon periods. Considering the printing condition, it is said to be a later edition printed in the Joseon period from a woodblock print originally published at Cheongryongsa Temple in Chungju in the late 14th century.
The Asan Samdosugun Haebang Chongdo is the only existing visual material that shows the Joseon Dynasty's maritime defense system in the early 19th century. It is a large folding screen containing maps and military statistics, focusing on the strategic naval command bases in the southern region strengthened after the Imjin War. The eight-panel screen details administrative, military, and geographical information about naval camps (Suyeong), coastal fortresses (Haejin), and maps (Dosu) stationed in the Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Gyeongsang regions.
The Asan Hyeonjong Jeongmi Onhaeng Mangcheondo Folding Screen is the oldest existing Mangcheondo folding screen, which saw increased demand among 17th-century officials. It contains detailed information about its production background, related personnel, and the painting's theme, making it highly valuable academically and culturally.
The Dangjin Seongdangsa Jesukcheon Painting is a Buddhist painting created in 1775 at Hyeunam Hermitage on Chorakdo Island in Dangjin. It is a work that shows the coexistence of various painting styles of Buddhist art in the province during the late 18th century.
