Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that according to the designation notice of the redevelopment maintenance area for Dapsimni Auto Parts Market (Seoul Metropolitan Government Notice No. 2020-369, September 3, 2020), a residential-commercial complex consisting of seven buildings with a maximum height of 105 meters and a maximum floor area ratio of 840% will be constructed on a 17,914㎡ site at 952 Dapsimni-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. The complex will have up to 29 floors.
The site will include 603 apartment units along with retail and office facilities.
Established in 1982, the Dapsimni Auto Parts Market consists of five floors (basement level 2 to ground level 3) across four buildings named Central Market Ga, Na, Da, and Ra.
Currently, a total of 744 wholesale and retail stores distributing auto parts are densely operating there.
For over 40 years, Dapsimni Auto Parts Market has been a central hub for the distribution of auto parts domestically and internationally, contributing to the local economy and enjoying prosperous times. However, as the industrial environment has changed, its functions have weakened, leading to an increase in vacant stores and aging facilities, making redevelopment urgent.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “With the full-scale promotion of the Dapsimni Auto Parts Market redevelopment project, we expect to renovate the aging area and create a future-oriented complex space where the automotive and mobility industries coexist with residential areas.”
