[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] China and India are escalating tensions in their disputed border area.
According to the state-run Xinhua News Agency on the 8th, Colonel Zhang Suili, spokesperson for the Western Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, stated the previous day, "Indian troops illegally crossed the border (Line of Actual Control) agreed upon by both countries and fired warning shots."
Colonel Zhang claimed, "Indian troops arbitrarily crossed the border and fired warning shots at Chinese border patrol members. The Chinese military had no choice but to stabilize the local situation through necessary responses."
The border where the two militaries are confronting each other is the Pangong Tso southern bank area.

They further claimed, "Chinese soldiers attempted to approach Indian positions in the Ladakh region and fired several shots into the air to threaten our forces upon encountering them."
