President Moon Urges "Measures Such as Adjusting Commute Times" in Preparation for Typhoon
"Thorough Pre-Control of Coastal Areas and Underground Passages"
President Moon Jae-in is presiding over a senior secretaries and aides meeting at the Blue House on the 31st of last month.
President Moon Jae-in on the 6th ordered, regarding the northward approach of Typhoon Haishen, "Thoroughly implement pre-control measures for coastal areas and underground passages, and prepare safety measures such as adjusting work hours if necessary."
President Moon instructed this as the 10th typhoon Haishen is expected to cause significant damage to the Korean Peninsula, urging the government and local governments to make every effort to prepare thoroughly for the typhoon, White House spokesperson Kang Min-seok conveyed in a written briefing.
President Moon emphasized, "The safety of the people must be the top priority," and urged, "Especially in areas expected to be on the typhoon's path, including the East Coast of Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, and Gangwon Province, which suffered damage from the previous typhoon, preventive measures such as evacuating residents must be taken to prevent casualties."

President Moon also stressed, "Strong winds are expected along with heavy rain," and emphasized that there should be no gaps in safety inspections of industrial sites including port facilities and in ship evacuation measures. He added, "Please pay careful and special attention to the safety of on-site personnel such as firefighters and police officers."
