The Busan and Gyeongnam Offices of Education requested all schools to switch to remote classes on the 7th, adjusting academic operations as the time when the typhoon is expected to be closest to Busan is 9 a.m. on the 7th.
Ulsan Superintendent of Education Noh Ok-hee also urgently convened a typhoon preparedness situation assessment meeting on the afternoon of the 6th at the main office policy conference room. At the meeting, it was decided to conduct remote classes for all kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools in the Ulsan area on the 7th.
The Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Offices of Education guided that, except for essential workers, teachers may work from home at the discretion of the school principal, ensuring that remote classes can proceed smoothly even in the event of a power outage.
Care services and after-school programs will not operate on that day. However, in the case of emergency care, it will be operated within the scope that can ensure student safety if necessary.
To prepare for strong winds, schools and affiliated organizations were instructed to thoroughly manage school facilities by securing structures such as pergolas and awnings, inspecting building windows, and checking drainage facilities.
Kim Chil-tae, head of the Safety Planning Division at the city education office, said, "The Busan area is expected to be directly affected by the typhoon throughout Monday, the 7th," and urged "all schools to do their best to ensure student safety and protect school facilities."
