Changwon City Promotes Customized 'Green New Deal Project' for Public Rental Housing
Following Last Year, This Year’s Promotion of Maintenance and Repairs for Aging Public Rental Housing Facilities
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 3rd that it is continuing the ‘Customized Green New Deal Project’ this year as well, targeting permanent and rental apartments that are over 15 years old for facility repairs and energy savings.
This project is being carried out to respond to the climate crisis and improve the quality of life for residents of public rental housing. To build urban, spatial, and living infrastructure, the city secured 1.355 billion KRW in national funds last year to improve insulation, airtightness, and facilities in aging public rental housing complexes to enhance energy efficiency.
Additionally, the city secured 700 million KRW in national funds for the Changwon-style Green New Deal Project for aging public rental housing, and by promoting the replacement of LEDs and other equipment within households, it is expected to reduce annual energy costs by 5,000 KRW.

Lee Jeong-geun, Director of the Environment and Urban Affairs Bureau, stated, “Through the promotion of the customized Green New Deal Project and living SOC projects for aging public rental apartments, we will proactively respond to the climate crisis and create a safe and comfortable residential environment.” He added, “By drastically improving the living environment for low-income households, we aim to make Changwon a people-centered city where residents want to live.”
