Most COVID-19 Infections Among Seoul Students and Staff Linked to Seongbuk-gu Sarang Jeil Church

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Among the confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) among students and staff in Seoul, the highest number was related to Seongbuk-gu Sarang Jeil Church, with 31 cases.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that as of August 31, the cumulative number of confirmed cases totaled 221, including 174 students and 47 staff members.
By affiliated institution, high school students accounted for the largest number with 64 cases, followed by 53 elementary school students and 47 middle school students. Among staff, there were 14 cases in high schools, and 12 cases each in elementary and middle schools.
Looking at the monthly data, confirmed cases surged in August, accounting for 76% of the total cases. By district, Nowon-gu (22 students and 5 staff) and Songpa-gu (20 students and 1 staff) had the highest number of confirmed cases.
The main infection routes were identified as related to Seongbuk-gu Sarang Jeil Church with 31 cases (24 students and 7 staff), Seongbuk-gu FA sports facility with 27 student cases, and overseas entrants with 13 cases (10 students and 3 staff).
