Jeju Samdasoo Wins Presidential Award at the 46th National Quality Control Circle Competition
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation, which produces and sells Jeju Samdasoo, announced on the 1st that it achieved a great success by consecutively winning gold, silver, and bronze awards in various fields at the 46th National Quality Small Group Competition.
The National Quality Small Group Competition is called the national sports festival of the industrial sector and is a competition that discovers and fosters excellent small groups (quality small groups: small group activities where employees within a company carry out autonomous innovation activities) that contribute to national quality improvement.
The ‘Challenge’ small group of Production Team 3 at the Samdasoo Production Headquarters of Jeju Development Corporation, participating for the first time this year, won the gold award by being recognized for its achievements in the ‘Maintenance Management’ field, including the full-scale operation of a comprehensive equipment management solution through the establishment of a preventive maintenance system and improving the Jeju Samdasoo trademark labeling process, resulting in an economic effect of about 140 million KRW.
‘Maintenance Management’ refers to a comprehensive equipment management solution that establishes a preventive maintenance system through integrated information management and accumulation of maintenance personnel, enabling the sharing and transmission of equipment maintenance knowledge.
The ‘Eagles’ small group (leader Oh Dong-eun) of Production Team 3 won the silver award again this year in the ‘TPM’ field. ‘TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)’ refers to comprehensive production maintenance activities aimed at eliminating equipment failures and maximizing equipment efficiency.
The Eagles small group, conducting innovative equipment improvement activities through on-site ‘Autonomous Maintenance Q-TPM Step’ activities, improved the filling process, which is the process of putting products into containers, reducing downtime and achieving a loss prevention effect of about 150 million KRW, thereby improving overall equipment efficiency.
The ‘CAP’ small group of Production Team 2 at the Samdasoo Production Headquarters established an independent problem-solving process and improved the cap manufacturing process for Samdasoo bottle caps, reducing the defect rate and creating an economic effect of about 660 million KRW, winning the bronze award in the ‘Free Format’ field.
