Record High... BTS 'Dynamite' Ranks 3rd on UK Singles Chart
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] The group BTS's first English single "Dynamite" has entered the UK Official Chart, one of the world's two major pop charts, at number 3. This is BTS's highest ranking on the UK singles chart.
On the 28th (local time), the UK Official Chart announced that "Dynamite" debuted at number 3 on the latest singles chart with 5.3 million streams and 22,000 downloads in its first week of release.
Previously, BTS had ranked number 1 on the Official Chart album rankings with last year's "Map of the Soul: Persona" album and this year's "Map of the Soul: 7" album, but they had never been within the top 10 on the singles chart, which refers to individual songs.
BTS's highest records on the Official Singles Chart so far are "Boy With Luv," released in April last year, at number 13, and "ON," released in February this year, at number 21.
With this, BTS has set a new highest record on the UK singles chart with "Dynamite."
Furthermore, this record is the second highest achievement by a Korean artist on the UK singles chart. Previously, singer Psy reached number 1 on the Official Singles Chart in 2012 with "Gangnam Style."
BTS stated on the Official Chart, "We feel humble and honored to have set a new highest record on the UK Official Singles Chart. We give all credit to our fans. Without their support and love, we would not have come this far."
They added, "'Dynamite' was created with the hope of bringing vibrant energy that the world needs more than ever. If even one person becomes happier because of this song, that is more than enough for us."
