United Future Party Holds Weekend Video Conference... Kim Jong-in Says "Government Only Threatens Medical Staff Without Persuasion"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] Kim Jong-in, Emergency Committee Chairman of the United Future Party, criticized the Moon Jae-in administration's handling of the medical workers' strike on the 29th, saying, "They are not making efforts to persuade but only threatening with irrelevant talk."
During the Emergency Committee meeting held via online video conference that day, Chairman Kim said, "When a fire breaks out, the state should quickly focus on putting out the fire, but the government is currently only preoccupied with determining where the fire started and assigning responsibility."
He pointed out, "When the Daegu region was struggling with the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the people who ultimately devoted themselves to overcoming it were the medical staff, and they are now the firefighters," adding, "The government is not making efforts to persuade the medical staff to return to the medical field but is only threatening them with irrelevant talk."
Chairman Kim also emphasized, "The government should implement policies that resonate with the hearts of the people," and "Overcoming the national crisis is the top priority."
Floor Leader Joo Ho-young sharply criticized Democratic Party leader Lee Hae-chan for mentioning a '20-year ruling theory' during his retirement press conference, saying, "It was like pouring oil on the angry public sentiment."
Floor Leader Joo said, "In the midst of the government's failure in quarantine leading to the COVID-19 pandemic and skyrocketing housing prices, it is audacious," adding, "It revealed the intention to come to power not by winning public support but through political engineering and technical means."
Regarding the Ministry of Justice's personnel reshuffle of mid-level prosecutors, he expressed frustration, saying, "I suspected it was an appointment to neutralize Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, but it went beyond that?anyone slightly displeasing was dismissed, and anyone slightly favorable was promoted," adding, "There is no way to describe such a daytime prosecutorial personnel reshuffle that breaks one's heart."

Floor Leader Joo raised his voice, saying, "Although it is Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae's personnel, ultimately it was President Moon Jae-in who issued the appointments," and "With only about a year left, what is there to fear that leads to ruining the prosecution, disgracefully destroying the law, and obstructing investigations?" He continued, "Power may seem everlasting, but looking back, such powers have collapsed in vain," and said, "At times like this, I believe members of the prosecution should keep their composure, endure, and resist the power."
