Taxi Driver in His 50s Tests Positive
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] A man in his 50s driving a private taxi in Mokpo, Jeonnam, has been confirmed as the 11th COVID-19 case, raising alarms in the local community.
According to Mokpo City on the 28th, driver A (59) was confirmed positive on the morning of the 28th and is awaiting transfer to Gangjin Medical Center.
The 11th confirmed case, A, a taxi driver based in Yonghae-dong, developed a fever on the 24th, underwent diagnostic testing at the Mokpo City Public Health Center screening clinic at 5 p.m. on the 27th, and was confirmed positive by a private testing agency at 10 a.m. on the 28th.
The city is conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation to identify the infection route, movement paths, and contacts of the 11th confirmed case, and plans to promptly announce the results once available.
A Mokpo City official stated, “Given the recent COVID-19 infection trends showing rapid spread due to strong transmissibility, this is a critical time,” and urged, “Please minimize movement by refraining from visiting other regions and unnecessary gatherings, and make mask-wearing a daily habit.”
